New high-tech sorting system based on spectral imaging
An Austrian company developed a high-tech sorting system working with light (near-infrared NIR and visible VIS). The system identifies, classifies and sorts domestic, commercial and industrial waste reliably and automatically within seconds. The system is based on spectral imaging consists of a lighting element, a dark room using spectroscopy, a control cabinet with software and a sorting jet. Removal of heavy metals from the technological waste waters by sulphate reducing bacteria
One of the Slovak research institutes has developed a new technology based on the natural activities of sulphate reducing bacteria (the mechanism of extra cellular precipitation), the products of which are easily removable sulphides of metals with a small dissolving power. Recycling of drilling emulsions and lubricants from metal processing
A German SME has developed a technology for on-site recycling of drilling emulsions and lubricants from metal processing. The separation of lubricants, emulsions, chips and metal sludge, respectively, is achieved by using a mobile, low-weight separator equipped with skimmers and pumps. The First European Bioplastics Conference is being organised by European Bioplastics, the representation of the European Bioplastics Industry. The association comprises companies from the agricultural feedstock, chemical and plastics industries, together with industrial users and recycling companies. The high level two day conference will be the event of the year for the European bioplastics industry. Attendees will be representatives from the industry and related areas. Politicians and media representatives will be our invited guests.

Austria - Waste Management Conference
From November 22nd through 24th, 2006 representatives from the scientific world and business are meeting for the eighth time at the DepoTech in Leoben, Germany. The focus: waste and landfill technology, contaminated sites and sustainable waste management. Practical experience or scientific work is welcome as lecture or poster. Deadline for the submission of papers is February 28th, 2006.

Depotech 2006
With more than 400 participants DepoTech has developed into Austria's biggest waste management conference. The up-to-date topics, the quality of the lectures, the organizational set-up have contributed to DepoTech's reputation far beyond Austrian borders. Already for the eighth time, representatives from science and industry will meet between November 22 and 24 to discuss current topics on waste management and technology. The conference will focus on waste management, waste- and landfill technology and contaminated sites.
