Two service providers of the network operate a successful project in Cape Town: At a collection point all types of electronic waste are accepted and repaired or used for spare parts and recycled. Useable components are sold, refurbished devices go to charitable organisations. Three sorters are employed on a full-time basis. They receive ongoing training to improve their skills. The project partners keep detailed records of waste collected that can be fed into waste information systems in the province and at a national level.
